TAILS have been wagging in a Dudley bank this week thanks to generous donations to Ravens Rescue.

Volunteers from the animal rescue have been in Barclays Bank all week with their four-legged friends, to collect cash and food to keep the charity ticking over.

Since 2012, the Dudley based rescue has saved hundreds of unwanted, abused and abandoned cats and dogs and worked round-the-clock to rehabilitate the animals before finding them loving new homes.

All animals that come into Ravens' care are checked over by a vet, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flead, so vets bills alone can cost the charity thousands each month.

Rescue founder, Sarah Harris, said a number of animals also have long-term conditions that require regular medication and vet visits, which Ravens continues to pay for after they have been adopted.

Sarah, who was in the High Street branch with her Staffordshire bull terrier Pim and Becky Riese today (Friday), said she was delighted to speak to the bank's customers about the rescue and was thrilled with the donations that had flooded in.

She added: "The collection bucket will be here until Tuesday and Barclays are going to match what we raise pound for pound."

All of the funds and food donations will help the 20 dogs, 25 kittens and 15 cats currently being fostered by volunteers and help cater for new arrivals.

Ravens is also appealing for borough businesses to donate raffle prizes ahead of it's annual dog show on September 4 at the home of South Staffordshire Horse Show on A449, Prestwood Drive, opposite Prestwood Nursing Home, in Stourton.
