A NETWORKING event for businesses and entrepreneurs with MP Nadhim Zahawi is being held at Studley High School this week.

The event, organised by Studley in Business, a non-profit group, aiming to improve the long term sustainability of businesses in the village, is being held on Friday, May 6 from 1.30pm.

It will include talks and presentations on apprenticeships, a networking lunch, a tour of the school facilities and a special question and answer session with Studley MP Mr Zahawi.

This meeting is open to all businesses and businessmen and women based in the village.

Studley in Business chairman Shohaib Shafiq said: "Studley in Business is very passionate about making a positive impact on our business economy and we feel that by working closely with our local education providers and investing in our young people, we can build a lasting legacy for our business community.

"The subject of apprenticeships was discussed in our very first meeting and it is something which many of our members would like to learn more about."

Speaking about the meeting, Mr Zahawi, who is apprenticeships advisor to the Prime Minster and co-chair of the apprenticeship delivery board, said: "Apprenticeships are absolutely vital for our economy, and so I was delighted to be invited to this event by Studley in Business, to discuss these opportunities with both school pupils and local businesses.

"Through apprenticeships, businesses can build the skills of new and existing staff to ensure that they have the skills required to compete and succeed. At the same time apprenticeships provide an apprentice with a real job, the opportunity to start a fantastic career and the chance to earn while learning.

"I would urge every young person and every business, in Studley and across the country to think about whether hiring an apprentice or taking an apprenticeship is right for them, because it probably is."
