THESE pictures show the shocking scene at a Worcester lay-by after fly-tippers dumped their rubbish on the site.

The huge pile of rubbish is located on the B4636, near the M5 Motorway, and clothes, a sofa and other items of rubbish can are evident at the site.

However, the council confirmed the rubbish is on private land and is up to the owner to clear the site.

This is not the first time rubbish has been dumped on land which comes under the borders of Wychavon District Council.

In September 2015, a police community support office stumbled upon a similar scene in Crown Lane, Hartlebury.

In June that year, Station Road between the villages of Bretforton and Blackminster was the location fly-tippers chose to leave wood, debris and other rubbish too.

There was a particularly dangerous case of the offence committed in September last year too, when a red sofa was left on a junction, near Hartlebury.

Police blasted the offenders "irresponsible" and "dangerous" after they came across it in Snead’s Green.

Wychavon District Council remained unavailable for comment, but have previously stated that fly-tipping will always be investigated and that prosecutions will occur when there is sufficient evidence.
