THE children of The Grove Primary School served up more than £300 for a cancer charity by dishing up tasty cakes and refreshing beverages.

The children, who are part of the school's council, served up tea, coffee and cake to the parents and school's governors at a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

There was also a competition asking the adults to guess how many spots were decorating a cake, and children across the school took part in a dress-down day in exchange for a small donation to the charity too.

Headteacher Mark Ridlinton said: "I couldn't believe the huge range of cakes on offer which proved very tempting to all our guests.

"I would like to thank everyone who supported us in making the event a success."
