BARNEY the dog needs a walk and the Cinnamon Trust in Droitwich, which helps elderly and terminally people to care for their pets is hoping that more people from the town might be willing to volunteer as dog walkers.

The charity supports people with pets who have become too frail, elderly or ill, to look after them, and might be worried that they will have to be rehomed.

Volunteers do anything from walking dogs for housebound owners, to fostering pets when their owners need hospital care, fetching cat food, or cleaning out bird cages or litter trays.

Patrick Williams from the Cinnamon Trust, said: “We really need volunteer dog walkers in the Droitwich area. Barney is a gorgeous, outgoing, lively seven-year-old English setter and her owner is elderly and cannot take him out anymore, but so needs him close. We want to make sure that Barney and his owner are both as happy as they can be.

“We are always seeking new volunteers so even if you can only spare an hour a week we would love to hear from you.”

Anyone interested in walking Barney, or in volunteering for the charity to help out in other ways, contact Patrick on 01736 758707 during office hours, or write to volunteer@cinnamon.org.uk. For more information about the Cinnamon Trust, visit cinnamon.org.uk.
