TRAVELLERS have moved back onto Hurst Green Park.

Last night (Sunday) caravans were spotted moving onto the park despite locks being put on the gates.

The park is now becoming a regular haunt for travellers and Halesowen North councillors are seething at the development.

Cllr Karen Shakespeare laid the blame at Dudley Council's door.

She said: "I cannot believe this has happened again. The police are frustrated as we are, we have been asking Dudley Council for better security, but it is either unable or unwilling to secure the park – it is not rocket science if the council did their job then we would not have travellers on the site.

Cllr Hilary Bills, who visited the site, added: "This is a different group than before and the police attended in great number they blocked the entry for a while.

"A Section 61 notice will be served today, telling the travellers they have committed a crime and must leave the site asap."

She added: "I did ask the travellers to respect the park and not to trash it and the police presence was very good and did reassure the residents that something was being done about it."

Cllr Stuart Henley also visited the park.

He said: "The council officers have been contacted to look at ways to get this gated area secured better in the future as this was an easy way to gain forced entry on to the site.

"The police had advised officers of this after the last visit and we must listen and act on their advice."
