AS many people begin preparing their Christmas dinner children from a Broadway First School have been learning how to create a pizza.

With the help of Broadway's Italian restaurant Prego, youngsters from Broadway First School took part in pizza week.

During the week years 4 and 5 at the school visited the restaurant for three days and learnt how to prepare a pizza.

They then worked out their own design choosing ingredients, quantities and selling price.

They prepared the pizzas on the fourth day and the final day there was a Dragon's Den style event when Prego's Italian chef chose the winning pizza.

The winners were Aidan Shaw and Yolanda Mills, who not only saw their pizza, the Santa Comes to Prego, feature on the menu, they also get to enjoy a meal with their family at the restaurant.

The children also had to design their own Pizza box and the winner of this was Ellie Browning whose design is now displayed in the window at Prego along with other designs in the restaurant.

Barry Hancox, owner, said: "It seems the children had some a great experience learning a variety of new skills and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

"It was a great opportunity for us to participate in the community and we have done the same for St Mary's School for the last two years now.

"They also get a little language experience from our Italian Chef, Pietro di Marco."
