A VALE village had welcomed the return of its postbox with a visit by West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin.
The box was removed without warning from the centre of Hinton on the Green in March leaving many of the elderly villagers unable post letters as they were unable to travel the extra quarter of a mile to the nearest post box.
A steep slope also meant those driving mobility scooters would be able to deliver their mail but would be unable to return home.
The village enlisted the help of their MP to secure the return of a new post box just in time for Christmas.
Mrs Baldwin said: "The post box was removed without any consultation and the impact on the village was huge.
"There are many elderly people living nearby who were forced to depend on younger neighbours to post vital mail like bill payments and greeting cards.
"I was happy to intervene and help the parish to secure a brand new post box and was delighted to be asked to attend a gathering to celebrate its return, just in time for Christmas."
