LEDBURY people are being urged to dig deep and make this year's Santa Stroll, which took place on Saturday, December 20, a fund-raising record breaker.

The number of Santas taking part, at 220, was a little short of last year's record of 250, and the amount raised this year, £936, is also just short of the 2013 grand total of £1000; but that at least could easily change.

They hope that seeing red at Christmas will be the cause of further public generosity.

Event spokesman, Jon Nicklin said: Last Saturday's event was a massive success.

"In all, we had 220 Santa's plus a couple of reindeer outfits and dogs!

"Everyone involved had a huge amount of festive fun and hopefully provided anyone who was in Ledbury on Saturday morning something to smile about."

He added: "We have raised £936 to date, £450 on the day and the rest from the sale of raffle tickets,Christmas cards with photos of last year's event and from our just giving page.

"It would be fantastic if we could push the grand total over the £1000 mark so I would be grateful if people could Text LSFS99 with the amount they wish to donate to 70070."

This was the third year in a row that the eccentric spectacle has taken place in the market town.

The charity to benefit this year through donations will be St Michael's Hospice.

Ledbury people would have encountered the hordes of be-suited Santas along the town trail, and also in the town centre itself, on Saturday morning.
