A DUDLEY man caught growing 12 cannabis plants in his loft has been given a 26 week jail term suspended for two years.

Judge Martin Walsh told Daniel Bagley - a man with previous convictions involving drugs - it was a "relatively sophisticated" operation.

The judge said: "You have a poor record for your involvement with controlled drugs. You will go to prison immediately if you do anything like this again."

Bagley, of Stourbridge Road, admitted producing cannabis and also a small amount of cocaine and he was also ordered to carry out 180 hours unpaid work in the community.

Kevin Saunders prosecuting told Wolverhampton Crown Court that 29-year-old Bagley who had equipment in his loft to help bring on the controlled drug was "no stranger to this type of offending."

John Smitheman for Bagley who was also placed on supervision for two years, said his client needed assistance to "help him make better decisions - particularly involving the use of cannabis."
