CANAL boat enthusiasts cruised into town for the annual Stourbridge Navigation Trust open weekend at The Bonded Warehouse.

More than 100 narrowboats descended on the Stourbridge Arm Canal for the event on Saturday October 18 and Sunday October 19.

The fun-filled family friendly weekend in Canal Street, which has been going for 31 years, also included a display of vintage and classic vehicles, steam engines and fairground organs, children's rides and a large craft fair, real ale bar and canalboat trips on the Trust’s passenger boat The Blackcountryman were also laid on.

Stourbridge Navigation Trust director Colin Clements said: "It was an absolutely excellent weekend - probably one of the best we've ever had over the last few years.

"The weather was kind to us; and we had a beer tent for the first time ever and it was a bit of a focal point.

"We had well over 100 boats this year and lots of people - 2,000 to 3,000 at any one time; the street was always full and the trip boat had its busiest year. It really worked out very well."

The Trust's next events will be the annual Santa boat trips which will take place on December 13, 14, 20 and 21.
