Best practice day to be held

THE British Grassland Society (BGS) and the Silage Advisory Centre (SilAC)holdasilagemanagement best practice day at Lower Medhurst Green Farm, Congleton, Cheshire, on Thursday, April 18.

The day aims to help farmers get the most from their silage and includes talks by top grassland management and silage production experts Dave Davies, RhunFychan, andShirleyHeron from Volac, and machinery and wrapping demonstrations with Kuhn and bpi minster films.

Lower Medhurst Green Farm has been in the Yarwood family for almost 100 years and has made silage since the 1950s.

Silage is a major part ofthe winter ration – last year 2,000 tonnes of clamp silage and 450 bales produced 3,500-4,000 litres from forage.
