TRADERS in Ross-on-Wye are looking for ways to enhance the town's markets.
The Association of Ross Traders (ART) are examining potential for encouraging a diverse range of markets in addition to the regular weekly ones.
Ideas being explored involve specialised markets offering clothes, food, antique and furniture, arts and crafts.
Other suggestions include having a special May Ross Fair and an August Ross Fair.
David MacGregor, ART chairman, said: "I think Ross as a traditional market town is crying out for some new ideas in the markets it holds.
"If a diverse and frequently changing range of markets were held here the public interest would be greatly increased which would have a knock on effect in attracting more people to the town centre regularly."
Public input into the issue would be welcome and market operators will be worked with to see what was possible, he added.
A variety of other ideas are also being discussed such as hosting the World Brass Band Competition and holding a rural Olympics when the torch passes through Ross.
