I was the driver of the car which caught fire and I can assure you I did not hit the injured deer. Quite the opposite in fact. I was flagged down by another driver who had FOUND the deer injured on the side of the road and we were trying to phone for help when we noticed smoke coming from under the bonnet of my car. The man said that my car was on fire so I got out and he, very bravely, pushed it to the side of the road then we both got clear as it went up in flames. It was very distressing and when I read that your reporter has written that I had hit the deer I was even more upset.
