WHEN cattle came to graze in their gardens, plucky pensioners weren't going to be cowed, neighbours in Thomas Court, Leominster, went out to "moo-ve" the herd away from a busy main road.
The arrival of the animals made for an early start on Saturday morning.
Jill Muggeridge, aged 80, was woken just before 6am to see at least 12 cows and bullocks eying up the too-tempting apple trees of Townsend House opposite.
Jill was joined by 70-year-old neighbour Jen Green in trying to keep the herd in the cul-de-sac and away from soon to busy Green Lane.
A trail of damage, among other evidence, showed how the herd had already munched its way down the Lane from a field nearby.
Another neighbour, Graham Carpenter, in his 60s, came out to help control the cattle, and, once they were contained, managed to find their farmer.
It was while waiting for him that the Jones family, of Townsend House, peered out of their front door to "welcome" their overnight guests - they hadn't heard a thing.
