HELP is at hand for older people in north Herefordshire who are suffering with depression.

A report by Age Concern England says as many as one in four older people suffer from depression, and the charity’s Leominster branch has a number of ways to combat the problem.

“We are taking part in a national campaign ‘Down but not out’ which aims to improve the quality of life for older people with depression, by helping them first of all recognise the signs of depression and encouraging them to seek help,” said chief executive Colette Colman.

Age Concern Leominster and District offers three main areas of help for those suffering with depression - an information and advice service, district day centres across north Herefordshire and in Tenbury Wells, and the Rural Men’s Pub Club, based at Kington.

For more information on any of these call 01568 611054 or call into Age Concern’s new drop-in centre in West Street, Leominster.
