Weobley pupil wins scholarship

A WEOBLEY youngster has been celebrating after being granted a scholarship at a Hereford school.

Thomas Mackie is the third pupil from Weobley Primary School to win a Dean’s Scholarship to study at Hereford Cathedral School in three years.

He follows in the footsteps of his sister, Lucy, who also won a music scholarship two years ago, and Katherine Newton last year.

The Dean offers only eight such scholarships each year, and only to the highest academic performers after an entrance exam and further scholarship day.

Thomas will take part in a special induction ceremony, performed by the Dean, at Hereford Cathedral in the autumn term before moving to the Cathedral School in September.

Everyone at Weobley Primary wished him continued success for the future.
