Ledbury stabbing update: Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Ledbury last night.

The 58-year-old is currently in custody at Hereford Police station where he is being questioned by detectives.

A significant number of officers were called near to the petrol station in The Homend shortly before 6.30pm after a man and a woman sustained a number of stab wounds.

They were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for emergency treatment, but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The suspect was located in Bromsberrow Heath just over an hour later and was immediately arrested.

He was initially taken to hospital as a precaution, but was later transferred to police custody in Hereford.

A number of passer-by's - including a motorcyclist - helped to assist the injured couple, but none of them sustained any injuries.

A cordon has been put in place, although it is expected to be lifted later this morning.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, but would like to hear from any witnesses.
