HEREFORDSHIRE’S finest export will be celebrated this weekend in venues around Much Marcle.

The Big Apple festival is 20 years old - and cider makers, orchards and traders have plenty of core activities to enjoy.

The biggest event is the Feast of Apples at Hellens where visitors can taste and buy dozens of varieties. Westons is also providing guided tours, while tastings and sales also take place at Lyne Down Cider, Gregg’s Pit Perry and Much Marcle village shop.

Pubs around Much Marcle will serve dishes using apples and cider, while apple teas will be on sale at Much Marcle Memorial Hall.

Special events include cidermaking at the Little Cider Press Company on Saturday, and a talk about the effects of climate change on cidermaking at Putley village hall on Sunday. Walks and a big apple bike ride have also been arranged.
