A NEW Michaelmas daisy has been planted to celebrate St Michael’s Hospice’s 25th anniversary.
The daisy, created by Paul and Merial Picton, of Old Court Nurseries, Colwall, is a striking violet blue in colour and has the name aster novae angliae St Michael’s.
It will be on sale from May 2009, with proceeds from each sale going to the Bartestree hospice.
A planting ceremony, carried out by the Very Rev Michael Tavinor, was also held at the hospice, with the Mayor of Hereford Councillor Kevin Wargen also present.
Jane Mason, head of nursing at the hospice, said: “We are enormously grateful to the Dean and the Mayor for taking the time to attend and to Mr and Mrs Picton for creating this beautiful flower to commemorate the silver anniversary.”
