A FALL in the number of discarded needles has delayed plans to install a needle bin in Ledbury.

Plans to provide a bin under Woodleigh Bridge have been put on hold by the Ledbury Alcohol and Drugs Forum.

The bin was proposed for a 12-month trial period, in response to five years of public complaints.

According to Keith Francis, forum chairman, the new figures have delayed those plans for six months, to allow more information.

“The number of complaints received has significantly reduced, and so the forum has voted to delay the installation,” he said.

Several market towns have installed bins, prompting a reduction in the number of discarded needles.
