LIVESTOCK exhibitors flocked to Ovals Farm for Kington Show, to enter competitions and visit trade stalls in one of only a handful of livestock shows that went ahead this year, after many were rained off.

Show secretary Clare Edwards said: “With strong public support for Kington and the real sense of pride in the community, it is a showcase of everything that our diverse and successful county has to offer.”

It was a day of many successes, with five-year-old Westwood Director, owned and bred by Clive Davies of R T Davies and Co of Kidderminster – taking the breed championship. He follows in the footsteps of his sire, Westwood Advancer, who was Kington Show champion in 2009.

Taking the reserve supreme championship was local breeder Gerald Blandford of Bosa Herefords, Ledbury, with Bosa 1 Hornblower.

Twenty-one-month old Hornblower is out of Bosa 1 Eva 59th and by successful sire Velleyhill 1 Ho Boy, and will be available to purchase at the autumn show and sale at Hereford Livestock Market on Saturday.
