Kylie songwriter's bid to save Gladestry Primary Sschool
7:20am Saturday 21st July 2012 in Kington
A SONGWRITER who penned hits for Kylie Minogue and Will Young has lent his support to Gladestry Church in Wales Primary School near Kington.
Parents fighting to save Gladestry school, which could close under Powys County Council’s shake-up of its education network, have been boosted by the talents of songwriter Jim Eliot.
Jim, whose songwriting credits include Kylie’s electro-pop smash All The Lovers and Will Young’s top five UK hit Jealous, has co-written the song with Gladestry parent Rob Robinson.
Pupils at the school wrote the lyrics for the track, entitled Every Child, taking inspiration from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and performed it themselves.
The song was recorded in the 145- year-old Gladestry School building and mixed at Jim’s studio on the Herefordshire and Powys border.
It is accompanied by a video made by professional filmmaker Paul Whitby, another local parent.
