Speed cameras snapping along A44 in Herefordshire

SPEED cameras will soon be in force along the A44 between Worcester and Kington.

‘Enforcement locations’ are being introduced at Cotheridge, Broadwas, Bringsty Common, Bredenbury, Steens Bridge, Monkland, Pembridge, Lyonshall, Kington and Floodgates after residents living in the villages and towns along the route raised concerns over speeding traffic.

Katy Jenkins, of the Safer Roads Partnership in West Mercia, said the aim of taking a ‘route approach’ was to get drivers obeying the speed limit along the entire length of the A44 as motorists will not be sure which enforcement sites are operational at any given time.

Though I'm not fully against speed camaras in the right places.
If you drive okmmg the A44 between Leominster and Bromyard you will find that the speed limited goes up and down in certain places in a very short distance, first its 40 then 50 back to 40 up to 60 then back down to 30 then up to 60 then down to 40 again???
Why not just even the speed limits out ?? You might find that 'most' motorists would calm there driving down(I say most because there's always going to be one idiot sadly).
Just like to finish off saying that there's just been a report that's just come out saying that Swindon has the safest roads in Britain and guess what.... NO SPEED CAMARAS!!!!!
Something to think about isn't it

gecko - if you stick to the speed limit, then its not a money making exercise !!!

Also i think there should be a slow camera as well, Farm vehicles have to pull over if they are holding up drivers, so should drivers who drive at 25 -35 mph in the national speed limit !

When I visit my mother in Newark I have to drive all the way to Worcester to get on the motorway and its that or dual carriageway from there on. Over half the time it takes is getting from Kington to Worcester.

Well thank you Katy Jenkins. Fuss pots rule. The A44: A road to avoid.
