Lyonshall singer to play Madison Square Garden in New York

HEREFORDSHIRE singing sensation Ellie Goulding is to play in one of the most famous arenas in the world in November after being chosen by Katy Perry to support her in her forthcoming tour.

The Lyonshall songstress replaces Jessie J on the California Dreams tour, which will take in Madison Square Garden in New York, an arena which is widely revered around the world.

She will also perform at the XL Centre in Hartford, Connecticut, the Mandalay Bay Events Centre in Las Vegas, the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California and the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

Jessie J is currently nursing a broken foot which forced her to pull out.

Katy confirmed the news on her Twitter account, with Ellie tweeting back: "'Can't wait!!!!!! xxx. Never thought I would ever play Madison Square Garden, and now I am. Thank you @katyperry megababe x."

Ellie's solo debum album Lights has so far sold more than 620,000 copies and she was chosen by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to perform at their Royal Wedding reception in April.
