Stars were dancing through the streets at Kington Festival

SOME of pop’s biggest names descended on Kington on Saturday to see out its annual festival in style.

Lady Gaga, The Village People and even legendary rockers Queen paraded through the town in honour of this year’s “Musical Mayhem” theme.

The acts were, of course, local residents who as usual supported the event in their droves and made no less of it than if the stars themselves were there.

Highlights of the procession, which took floats and walkers down the High Street and on to the recreation ground, included an appearance from the late, great Michael Jackson – aka local youngster Morgan Pykes – and a full-on rave from supporters of the Wye Vaults pub.

Multi-Band Mayhem then followed at Kington Football Club on Sunday, when music from Secret Stash and Fall Back Theory entertained the crowds in glorious sunshine.

Spokesman Nikki Jones said: “The Kington Festival wishes to thank all the helpers, volunteers, local businesses and everyone who supported the festival and certainly made this year one to remember.”
