SMOKERS over the border are encouraged to quit today during national No Smoking Day celebrations.

Almost a fifth of Powys residents are smokers but can get help to change that at open events in GP surgeries, community pharmacists, dental practices and community hospitals across the county.

Local organiser Kate Heneghan said: “By using the support available on No Smoking Day and throughout the year you can significantly increase your chance of success.”
