KINGTON Town Council has welcomed a new town clerk to follow on from Kate Lomax.
Former constable Gwilym Rippon was already a clerk for councils in Wales and Shropshire when he took up the post - making him one of a select few working across three counties and in two different countries.
The Welshpool resident said: “I think there are quite a few that work in two counties but not many at all across three.”
Councillors and residents have been helping Gwilym, who started as a clerk in Abermule after he retired from Dyfed Powys Police in 2004, settle in to his new role.
He also works in Bettws-y-Crwyn near Craven Arms.
