AROUND 19,000 chickens escaped injury last night when a poultry shed went on fire near Presteigne.

Fire crews from Presteigne and Knighton took an hour and a half to extinguish the fire, which was well alight, after they were called to Evenjobb at 10.20pm.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed none of the hens housed in the 350ft building were hurt.

What a good job these birds escaped injury, and are free to live long and happy lives, 42 days is they are lucky. In warm loving conditions, with plenty of light, fresh air, food and water, feeling the su on their backs, pecking around in the soil.
Sorry, Im in fantasy land again.
