A GENEROUS parent who won a garden shredder in a competition is helping hundreds of Kington pupils go green after donating it to her child’s school.
Debbie Smith, of Eardisley, gave her Bosch AXT Rapid to Lady Hawkins’ School, where her son is a Year 10 pupil, after she struck lucky in a Herefordshire Council competition during compost awareness week.
Lady Hawkins geography teacher David Smith said: “We are always grateful for donations and the shredder will be a great benefit to us because the mulch will be good for putting on our flower-beds.”
Compost generated by the shredder will also boost school meals by mulching vegetables on site, which are already being used in its canteen.
