THE County Air Ambulance can get to the most rural parts of Herefordshire in minutes – but to reach the world’s highest mountain may take a while longer.

Terry Griffiths, who lives near Kington, will be going to Mount Everest later this year to raise money for the rescue charity.

Two years ago Terry’s father, Anthony, suffered a heart attack at his home in Old Radnor. An air ambulance crew arrived just seven minutes after the alarm was raised and was able to administer live-saving first aid.

Anthony made a full recovery and Terry vowed to thank the service by raising much-needed funds.

“Last year I went to Peru and raised £2,300. This year I will be spending 17 days trekking to Everest Base Camp and seeing the lakes. I will be happy to raise whatever money I can get.”

Anyone wishing to sponsor Terry can call him on 07977307954
