Hereford United legend Sheedy on the road to recovery

HEREFORD United legend Kevin Sheedy has won his toughest battle to date - a fight against cancer.

The 52-year-old was diagnosed with bowel cancer last month but has now been given the all-clear by doctors after undergoing surgery.

Sheedy made more than 50 appearances for the Bulls in the late 1970s before moving to Everton where he played 369 times and was part of the squad which won the FA Cup in 1984. Six years later he scored against England while playing for the Republic of Ireland at the World Cup.

He is currently academy coach at Everton.

He told the Premier League club’s website that he would urge anyone with health concerns to visit their GP.

“My life has been saved through early detection and I am told that over 90 per cent who are diagnosed at the earliest stage are successfully treated.

“Don’t be embarrassed to go otherwise you could die of that embarrassment.”

Would be a good idea for HFD Times to list typical symptoms here to make people aware and for early detection.

A very sensible suggestion by Mrslawrence66.
Good luck and good health to Kevin; a Hereford legend, and a throughly nice bloke.
