HEREFORD’S nightclubs are gearing themselves up for a fun-filled bank holiday weekend.

Danny Rampling, who is widely credited as being one of the original founders of the UK’s rave and club scene, will be behind the decks at Saxtys on Sunday.

The 51-year-old DJ first caught the rave buzz whilst on holiday in Ibiza with fellow DJs Paul Oakenfold and Nicky Holloway and created what was thought to be the UK’s first Balearic rave club, called Shoom.

He then became a household name as a radio DJ and spent six years presenting the Love Groove Dance Party for Radio 1. Support on the night will come from Hereford DJs Gary Newman and Jordan Prew.

At The Jailhouse , drum ‘n’ bass producer Data will be the headline DJ tomorrow (Friday).

He has racked up releases on some of the biggest labels in the scene, such as Metalheadz, Critical, Horizons Music and has launched his own label, Adapt.

Support comes in the form of Scope, Cotton and Gribble, while there will be house and techno upstairs with Bones, Just William and Choose Life.
Hard house takes over on Saturday with Pierce Rooney and Dean Conroy, while on Sunday the Beefy Boys will be in the club on Sunday serving up the best 21 day aged Herefordshire Beef Burgers.

In Play , Ian Davies will be playing the best in chart music tonight (Thursday) before beatboxer Faith SFX returns tomorrow (Friday) after wowing the crowd back in April.

He was the first British beatbox champion in 2005 and has opened shows for Plan B and Bruno Mars and collaborated with Professor Green and Paloma Faith.

D-Tone and Silko are then the DJs on Saturday before a Bank Holiday “Chocolate Sundays” special is in store to finish the weekend.

Fusion will be open throughout the weekend, with hard dance act the Organ Donors performing tomorrow (Friday) night, which is sure to get the place rocking. They have got a 15 year history in the harder forms of music and have had more than 50 plays on Radio 1 in just over a year.

Alternative music and disco will be provided at Mamma Jammas over the weekend, while outside of the city, Euphoria in Leominster and Charlie’s in Ross-on-Wye will both be open.
