"Cats" beat and rob man

TWO suspects dressed in close fitting cat costumes - one with distinctive tail - have beaten and robbed a man in Hereford early this morning.

Detectives are studying CCTV footage of an attack that ranks amongst the most bizarre crimes ever committed in the county.

Both suspects came out of the College estate at around 5.20am this morning (Mon) to pounce on a man walking to work at the nearly Special Metals plant in Old School Lane.

Security cameras at the plant captured the "cats" pushing the man into a concrete post and kicking him once he's down to rifle his bag for cash and a set of keys.

The pair then ran off up Old School Lane towards the Pegasus football ground.

Detective Sergeant Tim Powell said one suspect was dressed in a "camouflage" looking costume with a distinctive tail, the other is in a burgundy costume. Both costumes came with "cat" ears.

'Both costumes came with "cat" ears.' - Sounds like a professional job ... no cheapskate stuff off Ebay for a tenner!

My God, let me swallow another diazepam. This is as good as it gets. You cant make this sought of tripe up. Here we are, a society very ill at ease and unhappy with immigration that celebrates Shane Warne and Liz Hurley eating a custard slice and a sausage roll in Ledbury, Beyonce swigging back Bulmers Cider down in London and now this, 'blaggers' dressed up in feline costumes robbing and giving their victim a good kicking at Old School Lane.
Sweet Loving Jesus. We are doomed.

But at 5.20 in the morning? Were these cats coming to the end of a nights hunting? You'd be hard pressed to find anyone on the streets at that time surely. We need stills from the CCTV - this is almost unbelievable ...

.....''cats" pushing the man into a concrete post and kicking him once he's down....
Who the hell writes this stuff...work experience students? An innocent man is attacked and robbed and it is written about as though it is a joke..''kicking him once he's down''...
Doesn't anyone in charge at Hereford Times read the articles before they are put on the website? Unbelievable!!

'"Cats" beat and rob man"', 'pounce on the man', '"cats" pushing'. These were not "cats", they were two cowardly little sub-human scum and the manner in which this has been reported is nearly as disgraceful as the actions of these two failures. This is a very serious incident and making light of it is the worst type of gutter press behaviour. The journalists, who presumably aspire to work for the Sunday Sport but can't get beyond a small county rag, no doubt think this is a great way to sell their excuse for a paper but it just demonstrates how lacking in compassion, heart and intelligence they are.
It would be easy to insult the people posting comments that are light hearted too but they have been fed their lines with the subtly of an addict being offered a line of crack.
Pathetic.

Sorry. I just noticed my last post included the word ‘journalists’. This was obviously a mistake for which I apologise. I realise no journalists work for the Hereford Times and I am sorry for any offence caused.

Excellent post at 2.59 and your last one made me smile!
As the reporter hasn't even bothered to say how the man was after the attack I would like to send my best wishes (to the victim not the reporter) and hope he wasn't badly hurt.

The person in question was quite badly beaten and required hospital treatment. Hence my rant at the coverage of this item.
Your kind words will no doubt be appreciated by the victim and his family.

I've seen some weird crimes in my time but it's the first time I've heard of an attacker wearing cat ears. Maybe the attackers were taking the drug Meow-meow.

Churchill78, I read your posts and you are right. For my part I should probably have given the victim my first thoughts rather than latch onto the headline and make a joke of it all.
I'll think in future, but sometimes it's a very British trait to laugh at adversity and that aint a bad thing either. My regards to you.
