A swarm of bees created a buzz when they settled on a flower pot in Hereford city centre.

Shoppers in King Street thought nature was pollen their leg when the bees, having left their nest at the nearby library museum, stopped outside a flower shop.

Amateur beekeeper Hazel Highfield, who works for estate agent Stooke, Hill and Walshe, collected the bees which have now been handed back to Colin Pavey, chairman of Herefordshire Beekeepers’ Association, who stocks the museum’s hive.

Anyone who comes across a swarm is advised to contact the association by visiting herefordshirebee keepers.org.uk.

Last year, shoppers in Leominster were surprised when a swarm of bees settled in the doorway of town’s Thorntons chocolate shop.
