TWO hedgehogs were rescued from a drainpipe in Hereford.

RSPCA inspector Suzie Smith was called to Ramsden Road on the Rotherwas Industrial Estate to help the stranded animals before she released them back into the wild unharmed.

Inspector Smith asked people to always keep drains covered.

She said: “Hedgehogs are so vulnerable to uncovered drains as they just don’t see the openings and down they go.

“If the drain then fills with water, they are in grave danger of drowning which is why I am asking the public to ensure drains in gardens are secure.”

To report any animals in distress call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
