Money ripped from pensioner's hand in Hereford street

A 77-year-old in a mobility scooter had money ripped from his hand after he tried to help a stranger.

Hereford police are investigating after a pensioner was approached by man in his late teens to early 20s in Chandos Street around 6.45pm on Friday (April 27).

The man first asked for money to get a bus to Kington - which the victim handed over.

He then asked for the time and as the victim looked at his watch, the man grabbed £25 in cash from the pensioner’s hand, apologised and ran away towards Ryeland Street.

The younger man was described as white, in his late teens or early 20s, between 5ft 6in and 5ft 7in tall, with a medium build, short dark brown hair and wearing a sky blue waterproof jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
