Her Majesty to visit Cathedral Close and King George V playing fields

THE QUEEN will “mingle with the masses” on Hereford’s Diamond Day.

Both The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will join in the Jubilee festivities on Hereford’s King George V playing fields during the visit on July 11.

The Royal Party will also visit the new Cathedral Close and travel through High Town.

Lady Darnley, the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, said: “We’re going to give The Queen a real taste of life in Herefordshire and I’m sure as many people as possible will join us in our celebrations.

“The team behind the plans are very excited and enthusiastic, and I’m sure we’ll be in for a sparkling day of celebrations which will be complemented perfectly by the visit of The Queen.”

As pitched, Diamond Day will celebrate “all that is great and good about the county” in showing Herefordshire life over the 60 years of the Queen’s reign.

Local people who have been judged to have made worthy contributions to a variety of sporting, business, leisure and voluntary activities over the last 60 years will also be presented with awards.

A number of schools have already signed up to take part in the entertainment on the main stage at the playing fields, and several businesses have joined the celebrations as sponsors of the event.

Sorry to say this but...

..I think the PEOPLE OF HEREFORD SHOULD COME FIRST by creating jobs improving roads and sorting out the eyesore of the old cattle market (spending thousands on putting boards up with painted bulls on isn't going to hide the mess ), and then our so called council spending MORE MONEY (more thousands I'm guessing) pampering a couple of millionaires ??
What about the local people of this 'once lovely city' ?? Don't you think THEY DESERVE theses thousands your wasting??

Yep you're right, I didn't know.
But my main point still stands...
..'WHY' spend thousands on a couple of millionaires when there's MORE IMPORTANT issues closer to home that needs sorting
