COMEDIENNE Jo Brand has cut the ribbon to officially open a new women’s centre in Hereford.
The actor and comic was showing her support for the Women4Women centre in St Peter’s Square prior to her gig at the Courtyard Centre for the Arts.
Women4Women is run by a newly-formed community group of volunteers which worked throughout the summer to ensure a service could continue after the former Here4Women centre closed due to lack of funds.
It is open to all women, whether simply isolated or in need of counselling to discuss matters such as health or domestic abuse.
Speaking about the official opening, chairman of the committee Gillian Menzies said: “It was a jolly and amusing event. Jo Brand quipped that luckily she was very happily married, although, sadly, her husband was not.
