HEREFORD traders and shoppers have been left in the dark today after a power cut shut several city centre shops.

Stores in Maylords Orchards, such as Mothercare, Bodycare and Adams, are thought to have been worst affected with some closed since their electricity went off this morning.

Workers from suppliers E.ON have closed off part of Maylords Street to pedestrians while they look into it.

This may have been an electrical fault but get used to it guys. We have put all our energy eggs into one basket i.e. oil from the Middle East and gas from Russia... energy shortages and blackouts will follow as sure as eggs come from hens... when will we learn to become energy independent?!

Pure brilliance - if all our energy eggs come from hens, why can't we expand our local battery farms and recycle electricity from chickens? That would show those Russkies a thing or too.
