CLASSROOMS which hold fond teenage memories for thousands of former Hereford students have been pulled down.
The bulldozers moved onto the site of the former Whitecross High School, which closed in 2006 after 51 years in Baggallay Street. Much of the 4.7-acre site, which is included in Herefordshire Council’s Unitary Development Plan, has been set aside by planners for a residential development of around 60 homes.
A part of the old school field has also been allocated for education.
Barratt Homes had planned to build 71 houses on the site but pulled out of a deal with Herefordshire Council earlier this year when a newly-published Environment Agency map labelled Yazor Brook a flood risk.
