POLICE are trying to sniff out the thieves who stole a lorry full of cheese worth thousands of pounds from a Herefordshire lay-by last week.

Its driver woke to find several pallets of the smelly stuff - weighing about a ton and worth around £3,000 each - had been emptied after parking overnight at the top of the Callow on the A49, between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye.

The total amount missing is estimated at £15,000 and was taken sometime between 11.10pm last Thursday and 7am the next day.

The back doors of the artic lorry, which is thought to have stopped alongside two others parked between the A466 Wormelow turning and the King’s Thorn junction, had been forced open and the produce unloaded on a verge nearby.

Police said a large vehicle must have been used and want to hear from anyone who passed the layby that night.

I bet that driver was really cheesed off over the theft, E-Dam what is the world coming to.
I'm surprised the driver didn't hear a Brie's whistling through the trailor.
