Herefordshire businessman wins award

A HEREFORDSHIRE businessman has won an award for entrepreneurship.

Dr Malcolm Russell, founder and managing director of Hope-under-Dinmore based Prometheus Medical, has won The Credit Suisse Entrepreneur of the Year Award category in the Midlands and East of England regional finals of the National Business Awards .

Founded in 2005, Prometheus Medical provides medical training and equipment to diverse markets, such as the military and general emergency health services.

With a small amount of capital, Malcolm and his partners have turned Prometheus Medical into a flourishing business.

The company began trading in 2006 and reported a turnover of more than £1.1m in 2007.

The profit forecast for this year is expected to see a 327 per cent increase from 2007.

Dr Russell is also well-known in the county as a volunteer for Mercia Accident Rescue Service (MARS) which gives pre-hospital treatment to accident casualties.

He now advances to the November finals.
