PUPILS and staff at a city school now have a special way of remembering a teacher who has retired after more than 30 years.

Robert Hall has taught science at Hereford Cathedral Junior School since 1977.

To mark his retirement, the school’s Parent Teachers Association (PTA) and Herefordshire Council paid for a copper beech tree to be planted on the Castle Mill, behind the Junior School, to mark all he had done to promote the enjoyment of nature study.

During his 31 years with the school, Mr Hall has seen two of his pupils return as teachers.

“They say you never forget a good teacher, and there will be hundreds of children across Herefordshire who will not forget him,” said Junior School headteacher Tim Lowe. “He’s been fantastic.”
