Alex Narlis, from Hay-on-Wye, is in the frame to win a top modelling contract after making it to the regional semi final of Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2012.

The 26-year-old, who works as a chef at the Richard Booth Bookshop Cafe in Hay, will be up against 13 others in the semi finals, taking place in Specsavers opticians in Birmingham on Wednesday.

Alex could win a 12- month modelling contract and a holiday to Barbados, as well as a trip down a famous London catwalk at Battersea Power Station in an event hosted by style guru Gok Wan
