YOU don’t have to be a rocket scientist to attend a Golden Valley high school - but it might help.

Hundreds of pupils are taking part in a science fair at Kingstone High School this week.

The two day event starts on Wednesday (July 2) and star gazing, recycling and rocket launching are part of the curriculum.

Highlights should include a bird of prey demonstration and a portable planetarium, provided by Zoolab and Starlab, respectively.

Science staff are also providing workshops, while aspiring young scientists can build and launch their own rockets.

More than 600 pupils from Kingstone and nearly primary schools are likely to attend.

The organisers aim to educate children about science, while creating greater links between Golden Valley schools.
