Meet the Herefordians who took part in the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony

A HANDFUL of lucky Herefordians represented the county when world looked on London for Olympic Games opening ceremony.
Twenty-four-year-old designer Kerri Middleton of Breinton was a dancer during the spectacular show’s NHS segment, while 54-year-old Jane Stevenson, a specialist nurse practitioner from Hereford, looked after the athletes and crowds taking part.
A replica of the Windrush - the boat which brought the first West Indian immigrants to Britain in 1948, was made here in Herefordshire by Dorstone kite makers Karl and Sara Longbottom.
And Sally Becker, one of the six peace campaigners who carried the Olympic flag into the stadium, was representing Children of Peace, the charity founded in Herefordshire in 2005 by Richard Martin to protect children in Israel and Palestine.
