Herefordshire could be getting a new-look Neighbour Watch network

A campaign to get the Neighbourhood Watch network back up and running in Herefordshire is underway.

Watch groups, first introduced to the UK in the 1980s, still exist across the county but work in isolation and are far less active than in previous years.

Now a small group of volunteer ‘watchers’ wants to revive the scheme under the new name, Hereford Shire Watch, and a new motto: “If you SEE something, SAY something.”

Anyone interested, including existing Neighbourhood Watches, are being asked to get in touch with former police officer-turned-watch coordinator Martin Field on 01432 820074 or email mrfield_2000@ yahoo.co.uk .

If enough people come forward, campaigners will establish a ‘core group’ to co-ordinate volunteers across the county and represent Herefordshire at the West Mercia Neighbourhood Watch Forum.
