Transit of Venus caught on camera over Herefordshire
12:30pm Friday 15th June 2012 in County By Paul Rogers
Marcus Clifford's picture shows the transit of Venus past the sun - something that will not happen again for another 100 years
A planetary phenomenon that will not happen again for 100 years has been captured on camera in the skies above Herefordshire.
Marcus Clifford went to the top of Symonds Yat to watch the transit of Venus.
The 18-year-old, a member of the Baker Street Irregulars Astronomy Club in London, had to get up early to catch the moment Venus crossed the face of the sun like a small dot – a phenomenon which will not happen again until the year 2117.
In Hereford, Angie Marsh was up at 4am to captured the moment from the viewpoint in Aylestone Park.
