A MAN is tackling one of the world’s toughest charity challenges in a bid to emulate his late grandmother’s champion fundraising.

Paul Janes is gearing up for the Marathon des Sables, a six-day race through the Sahara Desert undertaken while carrying food and kit.

He hopes to carry on the work done by former Hereford traffic warden Joyce Bishop who collected money for learning disabilities charity Mencap.

Paul, who now lives in Zurich, wants to raise £10,000 for the same cause. To donate, visit virginmoney giving.com and type in ‘Paul Janes’.
